Watching with Closed Eyes

Hasib Ehrari's account of two months inside a prison — a thousand years of suffering, as he puts it, in one corner of a cell. He admits the telling does not always keep to the formal rules of narrative and declines to apologise for it: he would not sacrifice the life of the truth to tidy the structure, nor let the words go cold under careful handling and the reality pull a veil of fable over its head. Text in Dari/Persian.
