Zan-nameh: A Critique of Patriarchal Discourse

Yaqoob Yasna's critique of patriarchal discourse, which puts its case bluntly. A successful woman is one who becomes independent, in her capabilities — in learning contemporary knowledge and skills — and economically. No man can make a woman happy. Do not wait for the one on the white horse who seats you behind him and carries you off to happiness: he has not come for your happiness, he has come for the picture of it, and if he understands a relationship as ownership he may well feel happy simply from having taken possession of you.
