Essays on Iran and Responsible Patriotism

Dr. Hamidreza Jalaeipour's essays mount a rational and civic defence of Iran's integrity. The first part takes up the question of who counts as an Iranian, examining the country through patriotism, the study of nationhood and the making of the nation-state, and drawing a comparison between the German and Iranian national experiences by way of Max Weber's own nationalism and attachment to Germany. The second turns to Iran's national and ethnic strains: having distinguished the varieties of nationalism, Jalaeipour argues for the civic kind. Text in Dari/Persian.
