Stapler

A novel by Qadir Habib that opens on the Sheikh taking a telephone call: the ustad reporting that his mission has failed. From that moment the world in front of him goes dark and old happy memories stop working. What Habib tracks is the split that follows — half of the man's mind staying loyal and turning back through the ledger of his past victories, the other half turned into a lancet that needles him with small remarks. Text in Dari/Persian.
