The KGB in Afghanistan

What Vasili Mitrokhin's notes set out is that the KGB was deeply bound up in Soviet policy towards Afghanistan from the very start. The agents it ran inside the country numbered in the hundreds, and their work reached beyond Afghanistan into neighbouring states, Iran and Pakistan among them. Mitrokhin ran the KGB's document archive and wrote from the files themselves. Text in Dari/Persian.
