Abu Shakur Balkhi

Anzurat Malekzad on the life, works and surviving legacy of Hakim Abu Shakur Balkhi, a major poet contemporary with Rudaki. Malekzad was the first to examine the content of his verse specifically for what it shows of the Samanid literary revival, and makes the case on solid evidence for its artistic, literary and ethical worth. This is the first reasonably complete monograph devoted to Abu Shakur Balkhi, and will be of use to students of philology, lexicology and textual criticism as well as to researchers in literature. Text in Dari/Persian.
