Afghanistan, the Sword and Defeat

Army General Valentin Ivanovich Varennikov died in Moscow on 6 May 2009, aged eighty-six — one of the foremost military figures of the Soviet Union and of Russia, a veteran of the war against fascism who carried the Soviet victory banner across Red Square on 9 May 1945. This book comes out of the International Book Fair held at the Russian exhibition complex in the first days of September 2000, where authors met readers, spoke about their work and took questions; Varennikov's own session fell on 6 September. Translated into Dari/Persian.
