Massoud: An Intimate Portrait of the Legendary Afghan Leader

Marcela Grad begins from complete ignorance of her subject: she had never heard his name, and Afghanistan was for her simply a very, very distant place — a country of legends and epics, about which she later heard terrible stories of the Russian invasion, with the nightmare of the Taliban added more recently. The portrait of Ahmad Shah Massoud that follows is built from that outsider's starting point. Translated into Dari/Persian.
